The Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School (GGFS) is currently recruiting for a suitably qualified Learning Support Officer to support our unique and exciting curriculum. 

Salary and benefits

Salary range of full-time role $64,972 – $76,892 and part-time role $51,978 – $61, 514 based on skills and experience. As an employee of Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan Aboriginal Corporation (BMNAC) you will have access to salary packaging benefits of an additional $16k tax free per annum.

 

About our School

GGFS officially opened in 2022 with a K-2 class, and in 2023 will expand to K- 4 with approximately 55 children, eventually growing to K-6 in 2024. The GGFS has a focus on Gumbaynggirr language and culture, quality teaching based on Gumbaynggirr values and philosophies, and strong community and parent engagement. The School is an extension of the Gumbaynggirr community, and there is an expectation of high level community consultation and engagement. Our School incorporates Aboriginal perspectives across all Key Learning Areas.

 

About the role

Learning Support Officers provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs including those requiring tailored support requirements in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. The main focus of the Learning Support Officers is to provide support so that students can participate in and access educational programs.

The Learning Support Officers will assist Teachers to support the educational, development and learning needs of our students, which includes providing targeted, one on one or small group intervention work. The Officers may also work in partnership with Gumbaynggirr language teachers (non-teacher trained) to support Gumbaynggirr language development.

Essential Requirements

  • Working With Children Check clearance (WWCC).

 

Selection Criteria

Please submit your EOI by submitting a CV and a cover letter (no more than 3 pages) outlining: 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, displaying effective communication skills.
  • Experience in or passion to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
  • Understanding of and experience in working with Aboriginal children, Gumbaynggirr language and philosophies.
  • Awareness of the needs of young children.

 

Your expression of interest should include details of two referees. In addition a written statement of no more than 3 pages is to be included in response to the above criteria.
