Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School (GGFS) is currently seeking an experienced and creative class teacher for Stage 4 (classes 7&8) starting in January 2025.

Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and dynamic generalist or specialist teacher with expertise in meeting the needs of a diverse range of GGFS learners. They will be able to foster a love of learning and a healthy social and group dynamic within the class.

Our School: GGFS is a newly established bilingual school located in Coffs Harbour that is extending into high school in 2025.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal, High School Co-ordinator

THE POSITION: FTE high school teacher

Key Responsibilities
● Develop and maintain a nurturing, positive learning environment.
● Implement and deliver GGFS Stage 4 Curriculum in a variety of subject areas.
● Develop and review Teaching/Learning and Assessment Programs that meet the requirements of both GGFS and NESA, as well as the individual needs of our students. ● Develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, parents and carers.
● Participate in school based professional learning, including attendance of weekly staff meetings, and on Country Days.
● Awillingness to participate in all aspects of the GGFS School and Community
● Engaging in weekly Gumbaynggirr Language classesKey Selection Criteria
● Ability to develop interesting and effective learning programs and resources.
● Previous experience working in a bilingual school or with indigenous students.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
● Experience of working in teams and ability to be a willing and enthusiastic team member.
● Willingness to work to establish and maintain a positive and strong school culture at GGFS
● Proven commitment to ongoing professional learning.

ESSENTIAL:
● Teaching qualifications appropriate to the position that meet NESA requirements.
● Holdacurrent WWCC (Working With Children Check).
● Align with the purpose of the school set by proprietors.

DESIRABLE:
● Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
● BusLicense
● Relevant experience in High School teaching
● Current First Aid Certificate
